Family that holidays together , stays together

Family time at Kodaikanal June 2018

I seriously don't remember when was the last time i took a  train ..well, memories refreshed since we took a  train to Kodai this time. This was Anuva's first train journey and the excitement she had was amazing... she went up and down a zillion times! She had her dinner sitting alone on the upper birth and cozied up with her Appa to sleep there.

Its an overnight journey and for us the better option is to board the train from Tambaram than Egmore. We realised this later :) We reached Kodai Road at 5am and had arranged for a  driver to pick us up.

Kodai is at 2133 mts above sea level which is only 107 mts less than Ooty! It took us 2 1/2 hours on these winding roads to reach our destination Misty Cove. Misty Cove is a  beautiful property overlooking the lake and is just right for families. Its  a  home stay and  everything is relaxed even room service( you know what i mean). Since we were with kids this suited us cos we could tell the guys exactly what we want cooked , customized to our needs. Also a  pure veg place! You cant even get non veg inside the property.
It is a  beautiful place .Our cottage had three bedrooms which was ideal for all of us .The bedrooms are spacious and beautiful. I absolutely loved staying here .

Since Ashi di and Ankur Jij stay in the US , their India visit is nothing short of Diwali celebration which lasts about two month :)

Sightseeing in kodai

We did the regular stuff boating, upper lake view point, Moyar point , Guna Caves, Pine forest and the cascade falls. While i love hill stations and the weather, its extremely difficult to find a  whiff of fresh air with so many diesel vehicles puffing up smoke. There  is seriously no place to even walk . Ankush so wanted to tandem bike with me but the crowd always dissuaded me . Something we will soon do

Family photos - no fun without loads of pictures

The ladies are all smiles

A big thank you to the team- Papa and Ashi di for the effort and composition of the blue and white pics.

We also went to a Sheep research centre and they have sheep and rabbit farming there. Its at Mannavanur Lake. This is one place you just should not miss! It is about 2 hours drive from kodai . The drive is absolutely beautiful and the mannavanur lake was nothing short of right out of a movie shot. I LOVED THIS PLACE..and if i go again to kodai, this is where i want to be.

Selfie time! With my handsome husband

Besides all this, i shopped ..why would anyone do that on a  two day short trip? Well, that's if the person is me and forgets to carry night clothes..then we end up shopping :)

Always happy with family!

My next post is on my birthday getaway to Pondicherry... Dont miss that one!
