Yes ! that's what our latest trip was all about. While my following posts will talk about all the moments with pictures, this one will be an over view of the entire experience.
Our road trip began on 10 Sep 2016 and unlike any other trip the start of the journey was not a chaos:) This time i packed beautifully and so organised , I could hardly believe i did it. Wonder why I didnt take any pictures of my packed bags;0
A few hours into the journey we were welcomed by tiny droplets and, in all these years of roadtrips never has Banglore failed to welcome us with showers and this one was no exception. We decided to stop at the KFC in Electronic city for a quick bite. Spend an hour there and moved on..to our first stop- Chitra Durga. We stayed a night here and visited the fort the next morning and then drove off to our next stop Anshi Dandeli Tiger Reserve, now known as the Kali Tiger reserve. We spent Three nights in this beautiful small and almost untouched place .
It was here, the second evening in KTR , when we were advised, asked , told only and only to get out of Karnataka. We were in north Karnataka and things looked pretty peaceful but the situation in Banglore was terrible and only getting worse. With only Whatsapp working and occasional data signal, we realised how bad the situation is. Our next stop was Goa which was about 90 kms away. Now the only stretch which had some disturbing news was Dharwad which was not on our way but is not very far away from our marked route.
Thanks to John, a very dear friend and Papa( FIL) , We had officers from the Army calling us to know if we needed any help and to keeping us posted on the situation in that stretch. Belgaum, now Belgaavi has a huge Army base . Thanks to them ,we were well informed.
I cant even imagine how terrorised the people stuck in this violence would have been . We were so many kms away and still the tension of the whole thing was always lurking. It was so hard to imagine that KFC where we stopped and the entire Electronic city was under curfew just a day after our visit. We were just so lucky to getaway without any unwanted brushes .We had to change our whole iternary and our plan to stop at Jog falls on the return leg to Banglore, and then Chennai had to be cancelled.
Crossing into Goa was a big relief. Cant even describe the beauty of the lush green scenaries we saw. It is nothing but breathtaking. Ankush revisited GIM school after 15 years and it was so nice to hear all the stories of the rooms, how they played pranks on each other etc etc one hundreth time ( or more) :)
While Anuva and I flew back from Goa, Ankush and Ansh took a route through Andhra skirting Karnataka in every which way.The drive was long and very tiring for the boys but the good part is they came across Horsely hills , Hampi and Daroji Bear Sanctuary .
Looks like we know where we are going on our next Road trip!
PS : Following posts will be all about the journey , destination and the experience with loads of pictures
Lovely teaser..waiting for the details to relive the adventure :)
