IKEA was on my mind! after seeing videos on you tube and the frenzy that this store has created, I just had to visit it this time.
Now , Serilingampally is about 1 and 1/2 hours drive from where we live ,so we were prepared for a long drive .
Amongst the adults in the group, i was the only one who hasn't visited an IKEA store - Ankush , mom and dad have visited IKEA both in the US and Dubai and hence, we were also able to compare the standards that IKEA hyd has, compared to the other stores in other countries.
The space is ample and no compromise on space or the layout have been made.
now if you are a first timer to IKEA, you must know that there are two sections - the Showroom and The Marketplace.
Showroom is where the products are on display. You can see how you can use/or how you can arrange the things. You cant pick the bulky stuff from here, though there are some really small things that you can. The process is to jot down the item code and then move on to the market place and pick your product.
Like the fauji stomach, the drill of sleep has to happen too...a short nap of 5 mins refreshed mom and Dad. While Ankush was with us , he was on his official calls for most of the time but I was just so happy to have him around .
After lunch we headed down to the marketplace. There is something about this space, the stuff that seemed a little pricey in the showroom starts looking cheaper and you are left wondering "why dint i pick that earlier! " People actually are hoarding here. I fell in love with some flowers in the showroom area and i hadn't found them yet.. So i left the family and ran looking for those flowers i even asked a few ladies where they had picked their flowers from and sped to the place before the budgeted time ran out. The space is huge but i finally found my flowers. I made an assorted spray and was so happy with it that I dint care about buying anything more..only to find that my hubby who was until now on a call has turned into an impulse buyer and had hoarded a lot of stuff already..Ankush even had explanation of why we need what was picked:0
We landed at the billing counter and realised we could have saved a couple of hundreds if we had taken an IKEA family membership . So once back home, that was the first thing I did!
To sum it all up...I really really enjoyed going to IKEA and I will go there again and again and again! If in Hyderabad, do plan and visit IKEA.

At 2:00pm, the punctual stomachs of the fauji family started rumbling in unison..so we headed of the food court. The food court is very very spacious and I loved everything about it. The best being all were following what had to be done! People were not jumping queues , smiles were exchanged as a gesture and it was all good :) we opted for the buffet and the food was so good. The Gobi aloo, dal, rice, chicken curry was of extremely good quality and what surprised me more was that the chappatis were soft and we had a fabulous lunch for over an hour!
