Getaway- Surya Lanka

Surya Lanka   April 8th to 10th 2016

SuryaLanka. Yes that is what I said. You dint mean Sri Lanka? and I smiled, Surya lanka ,I repeated and gave the details.

Its been over Two months that we have had the Tata Storme and hadn't been on a  long journey yet. So when we did see this long weekend coming up, we decided to head out- where, we dint know.. but we wanted to so we looked at options. Upon a few discussions with Ankush's dad , we decided on Suryalanka.

Papa made the bookings at the Airforce guest house and we were set. We left Chennai at 5;30 am and took the Chennai bypass to reach the highway and then to NH5.

It was going to be a long journey and with a three year old who just cant sit still, you just dont know how the journey is going to be. Thankfully it went on well.
The new Garmin GPS dint let us have a dull moment when it kept saying turn into New Hampshire 215! We wondered what New Hampshire could be until we cracked it...NH..National Highway is New Hampshire for BOB.
BOB who? oh well you see the voices of these GPS..since Storme is all big and Macho the boys have set it to a  male voice and is of BOB.
BOB is Lisa's  husband. Lisa who? Lisa is my google maps GPS. So when BoB was slightly lost i requested Lisa's help. She was clear and stern. All Bob did was rerouting !! They said the same thing but in different ways..for example, At a fork Lisa said drive straight for another 32 kms , while Bob said stay to the right.  Now you get what I am saying...

We finally reached Surya Lanka at 1Pm and were famished. Typical Fauji setup and Amazing food. The room was like a one bedroom hall house :) Very hospitable and comfortable stay.

We set off for the beach in the evening and the water was so warm. The sand is finest i have seen . Since this is the private beach for Airforce it was not dirty or crowded and was peaceful. It was so relaxing to watch the sun go down .

Ansh had a  fabulous time looking and running away from crabs, catching fish, swimming with his dadu . Anuva perched on her dads lap and just enjoyed! i wasnt expecting this but she was happy and looked forward to the beach the next day. evening into night Dinner and zzzzzzzzzzzzzz.

A lazy morning   we woke up and headed for breakfast then  nestled into the grandparents room we talked and the kids played and just too much fun.

Surya Lanka is unique because of the fact that the sun rises to your left and sets in the right, owing to its orientation of North East to South West unlike the North South direction.

Evening was more fun at the beach and the next day was departure day. We had  a lovely sumptuous breakfast and then were off on the longish drive to Chennai. We stopped at Nellore for a  quick bite and a much needed break. Got back home at 5 pm, picked up Kruger and back to the usual chores...Kahani Khatam!

Distance from Chennai to Suryalanka 385 Kms +- 20
We took about 7 hours to reach 445 Kms.
Other resort which i would consider staying in Harita, APTDC.
